Birthmark
This kind of mark penetrates, controls and dominates the growth experience of some people, and even dominates the society's view of this kind of people. In this work, I abandoned the common understanding of birthmark and observed it from another angle by changing roles, thus perceiving the bondage brought by birthmark and the stereotypes that have been labelled.I converted this emotion into jewellery in order to arouse the sympathy of the wearer. My jewellery creation aims to arouse the feeling of this change, hoping to arouse people's empathy through this sense of dislocation. In the process of making, I repeatedly discussed the jewellery and my own body feelings in to expand the breadth and breakthrough of the creation.
Through distorting the body, the potential jewellery, that is, the body-birthmark is concretized. When liquid metal was naturally cast on the surface of the plaster matrix I made by using body parts, I deliberately kept its sharp edges and abandoned the common wearing function of jewellery. After careful consideration and recombination, the jewellery was endowed with a unique narrative and meaning. The wearers need to adjust their body to find a certain suitable posture and strength to wear them. This special way of wearing will inevitably leave a short birthmark on the body, and when the body coexists with jewellery in an uncomfortable posture, the corresponding emotions will be sensed spiritually. The common wearing function of jewellery is removed, which forms a distinct visual tension on the twisted limbs. Through jewellery as a medium, a topic has been discussed, and my position has been expressed - to inspire people's reflection on birthmarks.
